Layla Young scored 14 points as William Woods lost to Cumberland 83-57 in women’s basketball Saturday in Fayette, Missouri. Cumberland led 23-9 after the first quarter and 42-28 at halftime.
Young shot 6 of 7 from the field and had six rebounds. Mya Pflasterer finished with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Deyja Mayes had five assists.
William Woods shot 34.8% from the field, made four 3-pointers and finished with 32 rebounds. The Owls committed 25 turnovers.
